I hope to have the code up on github sometime in the near future.Jarvis is a simple and easy-to-use voice recognition software whose main purpose is to open applications and execute specific commands by listening to your voice. With port forwarding enable on my router, I can access JARVIS from anywhere in the world, even if I was flying around in a metal exoskeleton (as long as there was cell service). These could include home automation to allow JARVIS to control lights or lamps in my house. Overall, the system works extremely well, and is flexible enough to support many more additions. The function can then act upon the data and user the Jarvis object to speak back results to the user, ask questions of the user, or display alerts on the web interface. When a match is found, the Jarvis object calls the corresponding taskРІР‚в„ўs handle() function, passing as arguments the userРІР‚в„ўs input and itself. Whenever input is received, the Jarvis object uses the keywords in each task to try to identify the userРІР‚в„ўs intent. Each subclass has a list of keywords and a handle() function. It stores a list of various subclasses of the Task object which identify the possible actions JARVIS can perform. This class handles all input and output from the system.

The heart of the system is the Jarvis class. This program is what computes all the responses based on user input. These popups can be dragged around, and a double-click or pinch gesture (on iOS devices) will close them. If the interface receives a packet with an РІР‚СљalertРІР‚Сњ task, a translucent popup appears on the page. Also, all JARVISРІР‚в„ўs speech output is displayed as small notifications in the bottom right corner of the screen. It allows me to manually type in commands by clicking the РІР‚СљRemote Tie-InРІР‚Сњ button. The web interface is written in HTML5 and is themed after the Helicarrier glass screens from The Avengers (reference images found here).

If one exists, it uses the text to speech (TTS) functionality of Android to speak the text. When a packet arrives the app checks for a РІР‚СљsayРІР‚Сњ item. To open a webpage, the master JARVIS program would send. The basic protocol is very simple, with each JSON message containing a РІР‚СљtaskРІР‚Сњ item and a РІР‚СљdataРІР‚Сњ item. Upon receiving a message, the clients can either act upon it (by opening a webpage, for example) or can simply ignore the message if the client is unable to complete that task. The master program communicates with the interfaces by broadcasting messages to all connected clients. the Android app or webpage, can send packets to the master Python program which then parses the information (more on this later). The web interface also allows JARVIS to open webpages and display popup windows with search results and other information. In addition, I developed a web interface to connect to JARVIS that allows me to type in commands as well as see JARVISРІР‚в„ўs responses onscreen.

Right now, JARVIS is able to check my email and read back senders and subjects, check the current weather, search Wolfram|Alpha and speak back results, and use a simple chatbot to carry on conversations.

The program is written in Python and is designed to be as modular as possible to facilitate the addition of tasks JARVIS can handle. Recently, I have been working hard on a digital life assistant project (DLA) that resembles the JARVIS computer from Iron Man.
